Link hygiene checklist

A simple monthly review that keeps shared directories trustworthy.

Why link hygiene matters

Shared collections drift over time. A few dead links, outdated notes, or vague titles make a directory feel unreliable. A short checklist brings the library back to a consistent, trusted state.

Monthly checklist

  1. Check for dead links. Open the first 10 links and remove anything that no longer loads.
  2. Verify titles. Make sure titles match the destination content.
  3. Refresh notes. Update notes that are vague or out of date.
  4. Merge duplicates. Keep the most authoritative link when two cover the same topic.
  5. Review tags. Remove unused tags and keep naming consistent.

Keep it light

The goal is not to read every link. Focus on a sample, spot the problems, and fix the most visible issues first.

Make it repeatable

Add a recurring reminder and rotate ownership for shared directories. Short, consistent reviews prevent large cleanups later.
